HTC has presented its new top model with the U11. The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 and has an innovative operating function: the housing of the smartphone reacts due to “Edge Sense” on pressure.
After LG, Samsung and Sony have already presented their Android flagship for the year 2017, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC now follows with the new U11. The smartphone follows with its glass housing the design language of the Phablet model HTC U Ultra and is – as users expect a flagship – equipped with everything that is good and expensive.
The special highlight of the smartphone is not the fast Snapdragon 835 CPU or the 12-megapixel camera, but the new “Edge Sense” control function. Thanks to the pressure-sensitive housing sides, a light print is sufficient to start various functions like the camera, Google Assistant, Alexa or other preconfigured apps. In addition, EdgeSense provides various additional features within System Apps. The feature differentiates between short and long print. How convincing the use of EdgeSense in practice is, a test will show.
The hardware inside the HTC U11 can also be seen: contents represent the smartphone on a 5.5-inch LCD screen with 2.560 x 1.440 pixels. For a liquid work bench, however, the Qualcomm Octacore Snapdragon 835, which comes with up To 2.45 GHz clocks and back to 4 GB of memory. 64 GB are available for data storage, which can be extended by up to 2 TByte via MicroSD. Alternatively, the card slot can also be used for an additional SIM card.
High-end camera in the HTC U11
For a successful snapshots, HTC uses a 12-megapixel camera with ultra-pixel technology, brisk autofocus, f / 1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. In the test of the camera experts from DXO, the U11 sets with a score of 90 points to the top and points with Google’s pixel, Samsung’s S8 or the iPhone 7 on the seats. In contrast to many opponents, the camera is built almost flat with the housing. For high-resolution self-help is also provided: At the front works a camera with 16 megapixels.
The remaining features include a 3,000 mAh battery, a housing protected against water and dust according to IP67, a fingerprint sensor, WLAN a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB 3.1 with Type C port. A normal 3.5 mm Audiobuchse search users unfortunately in vain. As an operating system Android 7.1 with the in-house surface HTC Sense is used.
The HTC U11 will be available from 1 June 2017 in the colors Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black and Ice White for a RRP of 749,00 Euro. The color Solar Red is about six weeks after sales start to come into the trade.
