Choosing between the iPhone and the Android Operating System in the Year 2018

Mobile devices and mobile apps continue to set the trend in the highly evolving technology market. A mobile app development company could offer innovative services to the different client base, designing apps for the hottest operating systems at present, the iPhone and the Android.

Smart phones and devices are more important than ever today, serving not only as a means of communication, but also as tools for paying goods, control home gadgets, start a car and more. App development firms continue to deliver the requirements of the customers for their different business processes and goals.

For 2018, many mobile users and even mobile app development services providers would be contemplating whether to go for Android or iPhone. The following are some considerations on whether one should choose an Android over the iPhone or vice versa.

The choice could be conceptualized into asking if iPhones are better than the best Android phones. Some Android phones have better cameras than iPhones, while others have higher screen resolutions, or more features that one does not get with the iPhone. It’s possible to purchase iPhones with plenty of storage, but not all models provide 128GB, and Apple charges more for extra storage. With many Android devices, one could insert a micro SD card that could cost considerably less. There are pros to having more internal storage, including the fact that there would be no worries on where the music, applications, videos and other files are stored.

Android has improved in leaps and bounds and now both Android and iPhone are tied for the best mobile OS. Certainly, this is more subjective as objective, and there always would be those that to for iOS and those that consider Android the best.

iPhone apps most obviously, all sit on numerous home screens, the same way they have always done. Sure, they could be put in folders and look for them, but home screens could not really be customized. With Android, there’s more freedom. A user could make it like iOS, but equally could shove all the apps in the app tray and leave the home screen to display a nice picture or add widgets to show the world time, weather and a lot more.

An iPhone has Siri and Android has Google Now. Google now is a bit limited, but Siri and Google Assistant have the same capabilities. All could be used to set reminders, alarms, obtain directions, check cinema times and more and could send emails and text messages using dictation. They are becoming adept in controlling smart home gadgets, like heating, lighting and more.

With Android, one could toggle an option to install software coming from unknown sources. With an iPhone however, a user is limited to what is available in the App Store in the country. Plug an Android to a personal computer and it works like a hard drive. One could view, delete and copy files the same way as on a USB flash drive. This makes is very easy to transfer music, videos and documents from any computer. This is not so with the iPhone. Plug it into a PC and it’s as if one has connected to a digital camera. Photos and videos could be copied off, but that’s it. The rest of the file is walled off and one could only add music, videos and other files with iTunes or other specialist software. The downside to the flexibility of Android is that phone manufacturers change the feel and look of Android to a point where it feels like learning a new OS. An iPhone does not limit to just Google or Apple services. Each Google service is available on the iPhone.

Apple is renowned for its stance of privacy and, while there’s some data harvesting occurring, it’s not going to give up data when the FBI comes to call. On the other hand, Google is mainly after data to make money. Thus, if you value privacy, the iPhone would be a better choice. Nevertheless, Android could also be secure. As over the Marshmallow 6.0 version, full-disk encryption was made mandatory. Android too is more vulnerable to malware. It does not only have a big market share but also much easier to get malware since it is not locked down like the iPhone. Nonetheless, an Android phone could be protected by just installing apps from the Google Play Store and running an antivirus application.

Choosing between the two most popular operating systems in the world for the coming 2018 would depend on one’s mobile requirements and priorities. There are remarkable applications and systems to the Android and the iPhone, the key to choose which one is to determine what the features of the two operating systems would best meet a user’s requirements.
