Samsung, the tech company which was plagued with an exploding smartphone dilemma has officially discontinued the brand’s Galaxy Note 7. The discontinuation has served to enhance the eagerness of tech enthusiasts and Samsung lovers around the world. Hence, rumors about the successor of the Galaxy series, S8 are all in the air. Even though there has been no official word from Samsung yet, however, the Galaxy S8, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2017, is already being touted as the next big thing. In the following article we will be covering the rumors surrounding the next flagship device from Samsung; however, as we say with all rumors, they must be taken with a grain of salt.
A recent report highlights that the Korean conglomerate is hard at work developing new software for the upcoming device. It has also been stated that the ROM in development will be limited to various countries and once a stable version has been established, it will be circulated for adaptation to other regions.
There were various reports which indicated that the phone might be released a bit earlier following discontinuation of Note 7, but they have been dispelled and it is being said that the company will follow its usual launch pattern for S8. The company is expected to unveil the device during their Unpacked Event which is scheduled for February 26, 2017.
In the specifications department, it is being rumored that the device will come in two variants. A standard 5.2-inch model along with the induction of a new Plus sized Phablet which would have a 5.5-inch size. It is being speculated that following the tainted reputation of the Note series, the company might discontinue the Note series altogether and consider inoculating the Plus sized variant with better specifications instead.
The differences that have been hinted so far state that the Plus sized variant will boast a dual camera setup whereas the smaller model would come bearing a single rear shooter. The difference would also be prominent in the display section as the smaller variant is expected to get a 2K panel with the Plus size variant being endowed with a 4K panel. Another possible induction seems to be of Viv, an AI assistant which was recently purchased by Samsung Electronics. The processor and RAM specifications seem to be the same; with variance based on Regions.
Speculations also suggested that the phones would come with a bezel-less display with the physical buttons being housed under the screen. A similar rumor is also present for Apple’s iPhone offering that is slated for next year.
